SUPPORT YOUTH MISSION PROJECT (YMP)

Focusing On Faith, Fellowship And Service

What is Youth Mission Project?

For over forty years, our congregation at Shandon UMC has served a local coastal community in South Carolina called Petersfield. Each summer, we take a group of adults and High School students to work on homes needing repair and minister through connecting to the community. Our church, through the Holy Spirit, has been able to foster deep ties to this community and see lives changed by the work we’ve been able to accomplish. As we prepare to continue this sacred work, we ask church members who can’t help by going in person to consider supporting us in other ways. Here are some of the ways you can help.

Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper

YMP Pancake Fundraiser

Join us on Tuesday, February 13 for a Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper! From 5:00-6:30 p.m. on February 13, our youth will host dinner in the Gym. We are selling dinners that include pancakes, grits, sausage, fruit, and drinks. Adult tickets are $7, and children’s meals are $3. Tickets must be purchased in advance.

There is no childcare, but Cari Treece and some of our youth will also be there to play with children in the gym after they finish eating.

Donate!

Youth Mission Project is only possible because of church members’ giving. We ask that you each prayerfully consider contributing to our work. For a frame of reference of some of the costs of YMP, here are examples of the costs of our projects.

  • A typical shingle roof cost about $2000.
  • A handicap ramp cost between $800- 1800.
  • To prep and repaint a house costs $900.
  • Trash trailers for our worksites cost $700 each.
  • Grab bars for bathtubs cost about $30 each.
